My painterly practice moves within the field of tension between the cool aesthetics of industrial luxury objects and the fragile materiality of the body. The body appears as a condensed space of interaction for ambivalent states; technologised, smooth surfaces serve as projection surfaces. I am interested in a state of quiet tension: that moment of latency, just before an event occurs. Technology, urban isolation and acceleration are not depicted but translated into painterly processes. Superimpositions, unnatural lighting and precisely placed negative spaces generate shifts and zones of withdrawal. Emotional states such as being overwhelmed or fatigued remain held in a controlled ambiguity. The pictorial spaces resist a linear legibility and negotiate perception under the condition of individual connotation.
